Animal Housing
There are various types of animal shelters and housing that can be used for both pets and for working animals or those kept on farms. On the domestic front you have various options depending on the pet you choose. For example, you may have:
- A kennel for a dog
- A run for rabbits, guinea pigs or even chickens
- Aviaries for birds
- Indoor cages for smaller animals such as hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats
Larger animals such as those that are kept on farms may need specially designed and/or converted animal shelters and housing. Some of these buildings will be based around a farm house and the animals may live there permanently. Others may simply be placed in the fields where the animals graze and the animals can use them as and when they please or may use them at night. Some popular types of animal shelters and housing here include:
- Stables and horse barns for horses
- Cowsheds and cattle pens for cows
- Runs and houses for hens, duck and geese
- Piggeries for pigs
- Milking sheds (where cows go when they need to be milked)
- Lambing sheds (where sheep can go when they are lambing)
